Dynies and Daffys

For a couple of weeks now Colton has been wearing both "braces" he has for his legs. The Dynasplints (we call them Dynies) that look like this...... are worn only while sleeping. These are to slowly help extend Colton's knee so he doesn't want to always keep his legs bent (like he does now). At the moment he is wearing them at nap time but eventually, when we work up to it, he will wear them at night while he sleeps. He doesn't "love" them but they do not seem to bother him too horribly bad like I thought that might.

His Dafos (we call them Daffys)...

look like this. They are to help him with "toe walking" while he is developing his walking skills. They fit in his shoes like this.

Very discreet with long pants on.

We now have an unofficial diagnosis of mild Cerebral Palsy (CP) that affects only his motor movements so far. We will have an "official" diagnosis once he has an MRI of his brain done in January. His muscles are extremely tight and tense. Colton still receives physical therapy once a week. We are all working very hard to help him overcome all the challenges he faces. I've said it before and I'll say it again... HE IS AMAZING!

  1. He's also adorable!

When ever I see AFOs or Dafos I think of the post that Tanis wrote about her kids seeing a little boy with AFOs and them talking about shalebug. If you haven't read it email me and I'll send it to you.
