Random Ramblings

Took Colton to the Pediatrician today, turns out he needs to visit the allergy doctor. I never had allergies as a child but Seth had them bad. We go June 10th and I have a feeling it won't be a very fun visit.

*Praxis Update*
Every teacher (at least in Kentucky) has to take and pass an exam towards the end of their undergraduate college career. I took this test on April 30th and was very scared that I wasn't going to pass. Well, today I got my scores... A passing score is 148, I received a 174! I was so excited when I opened up the PDF document and saw that. Interestingly enough, my highest score was in the math section, lowest was social studies and my science/language arts were the middle. If you can't tell I am extremely glad that I passed and now only a simple piece of paper stands between me and my own classroom. I can't wait.

Last thought for this post, The Rapture predictor guy is crazy, that is all.

Random Happenings

Obviously I have taken the last couple weeks off as a blogger, just to get back into the swing of things with school and all that jazz. I intended to start writing again at the beginning of this week but plans changed thanks to the fact that all three of us Darnell's were sick with sinus & ear infections as well as nasty colds. Unfortunately, Colton is still fighting off his germs but Seth and I are 95% back to normal.

While I was absent we have been crazy busy with reunions and birthdays and homework and FOOTBALL GAMES! More on all that very soon.In the meantime I hope you'll be satisfied with some picture of one happy little boy.

Snotty Mommy

Seriously, we cannot catch a break around here. We got in from Michigan last Tuesday night and all was well for about 48 hours. Colton played, I did laundry and cleaned, Seth napped, things were pretty much getting back to normal. and then...

BAM!

we get hit head-on by little germy, sickness bugs. I got it first, then Seth got a touch of it, then Colton and now Nana. Who's next? Your guess is as good as mine. The point is we've been a sickly bunch for the last several days. I pretty much stayed in bed for 24 hours, feeling awful, then, as if by magic *poof*, I was much better. Still have a snotty nose but my sore throat, fever and body aches are nowhere to be seen. Seth and his extraordinary immune system managed to squeeze by with just minor sinus issues. Colton on the other hand got hit hard by this bug. He didn't eat or drink for a full 24 hours. He had to be held constantly, that was the only way to keep him comfortable. He had a fever, sore throat, cough, and just about every other symptom of winter-sickness you can imagine. My son always seems to get sick on the weekend, when the Peds office is closed, so I took him this morning to the Family Care Clinic here in Frankfort. It was determined that he had an ear and respiratory infection, so we got some antibiotics and headed home. After two doses of meds (added to his eye-drop regimen, which he still HATES) he is still not quite back to normal but much, much better.

Me, on the other hand, well I'm burnt out, exhausted, spent... just another day in the life of a snotty mommy.

Sick, sick, sick.

Sinus infection for Mommy, Ear infection and a "cold" for Colton. The good news is this is the first time since he got out of the hospital, almost a year ago now, that he has been put on an antibiotic. Those of you who have preemies can appreciate the success in this, especially since RSV season just ended. However, a blind child with an ear infection is not such great news. He relies on his hearing that much more since he does not have functional vision and his ears are hurting right now and probably a little cloudy. Needless to say, he is cranky and considering he is NEVER very cranky (aside from being hungry) this makes me feel so sorry for the little guy.

I would be happy just to be able to breathe out of my nose, is that too much to ask for?

Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that we are both headed to healthier days SOON!
