Fashionable Friday - Sundresses
A sundress is a great thing to have in your closet during these warm summer months. As a mom I get sick of seeing myself in jeans and tanks all the time but don't want to go to the trouble of dressing up in my finer duds just to get spit up on so, these sundresses are easy to slip on and are so in style for summer 09. FYI Most are made of cotton blends so they are also very easy to clean. Old Navy has a great collection, I have posted pics of some of my favs from there, but you can find them just about anywhere right now.
Bad Blogger...
I am terribly sorry that I have been so distant from the "internet world" the last couple weeks. Seth started new job, Colton is finally semi-mobile and we are trying to buy a house. I've been crazy busy. I promise a wonderful (as wonderful as I can make it anyway) post tomorrow but for now enjoy this picture of Colton in his "big boy car seat" for the first time about a week ago. He loved it!!!

May 14th
In the preemie world there are usually two birthdays, the corrected and the actual. Colton's actual is 11/25/07, his corrected is 3/17/08 (his due date). There is one more very important day in Colton's life, May 14, 2008, the day he came home from UK Hospital. There are no words to describe how a mother who has been trapped in the world of the NICU for any extended period of time feels the day she finally brings her little miracle home. It is the best feeling in the world (once you get passed the terror of no longer having medical professionals on hand 24/7). On this day last year I finally, after 172 days of his life, carried Colton through the front door of our home, up the stairs and into his room. His room, the place that had felt so wrong, like something was missing, was finally complete, he was home. Now, a year later, I once again find myself at a loss of words to describe the way I feel. The only word I can imagine to describe the feeling I get when I look into Colt's precious little face is blessed, truly, truly blessed.

The Thursday Thirteen - Why I love being a Mommy
Thirteen reasons why I love being a Mommy...
- I love the smiling face I see every morning when I go into Colton's room.
- I love getting to watch cartoons 24/7.
- I love the overwhelming pride I feel when he learns something new.
- I love watching my husband as Daddy, he's amazing.
- I love the way your outlook on life changes the moment your child is born. Everything is just that much better.
- I love sneaking in his room at night, just to check on him.
- I love the face he makes when he tries a new food for the first time.
- I love the way he smells after a nice, warm bath.
- I love the snuggle time... even if it is getting less and less as he grows.
- I love his laugh... it is the best sound in the world.
- I love hearing him say "Mama" even if he does say "Dada" more.
- I love how he already knows how to get exactly what he wants from me, daddy and his grandparents.
- Most of all I love this amazing love I feel for him that I never could have dreamed was even possible. I love my little man!

Derby Weekend Recap
Sorry about the lack of posts the last couple days but the truth is not much has happened lately. Colton got to spend time with all 3 sets of grandparents this weekend so he got EXTRA spoiled and Mommy and Daddy got a little bit of "together alone" time, even though we spent most of it napping. I won $0 on my Derby bets so that kind of bites. We did have a fun cookout on Derby Day, ate lots of food and played cards. Mother's Day is coming up next weekend and Colton's Baby Dedication is also on Sunday. Okay, I'm exhausted and Colton wants to play so that is all for now. xoxo

Fashionable Friday - Derby Hats
As a Kentucky girl I know the importance of having your favorite over-sized, over-the-top hat on derby day. The 135th running of the Kentucky Derby is tomorrow, Saturday May 2, 2009 and everyone knows in Kentucky on the first Saturday in May this annual race controls everything. So, it is no surprise that the power of the derby has taken over my blog on this rainy Friday morning. Explore the official site (linked above) and place your bets because it is DERBY TIME in the Bluegrass State. FYI As of now, I'm betting on Dunkirk, Friesan Fire and I Want Revenge, in that order.
Now, the fashionable part of Fashionable Friday. THE HATS!!! A derby hat should be "classy and fabulous" two things a woman should always be according to Coco Channel.
Below I have posted some of my favorite hats from LadyDianeHats.com. Be sure to check back tomorrow for my Derby Day Blog Post!
